STAMPS

As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, stamps are the building block of my creativity.  Stampin' Up! stamps are:
  • Exclusively designed artwork
  • Deeply etched into rubber!!!
  • They have designed styles for any taste
  • Are grouped into sets for easy coordination
  • Can be purchased in wood mount, or clear mount!!!

I love my Stampin' Up! Stamps...and I have used many stamps in my day...these are the best out there.  I also love that thru the years that I have been a demonstrator, they have kept up with the current styles.  When I first decided to do this over 17 years ago...I researched 5 companies that sold thru home parties...and am so happy that I went with Stampin' Up!  They have been the best!!!!

I didn't get to finish up what we did yesterday, at my Downline Meeting, as my computer was not behaving.  Today it seems fine.  We did get a chance to stamp....Actually we did the same Make-n-Takes that we did at Friday's Stamper's 10.  The top one shows the buttons we made, and the bottom one shows a gift card holder...will get the other samples on here later this week!!!

Karen will be joining me at the Stampin' Up! Regional Event in Denver on September 8 from 9-5.  I am so excited...AND...I can have 8 guest come  with me.....It is a full day of stampin, presentations, swapping, lunch, all for only $75.00.  If you are interested in coming with me...let me know.  Registration usually fills up fast.

What does your registration include?
  • All event activities
  •  Hands-on stamping and papercrafting techniques
  • Business tips
  •  Presentations by Stampin’ Up! staff and local demonstrators
  •  Swapping with fellow demonstrators
  •  A boxed lunch
  • Make & Take projects
  •  Hundreds of display samples for inspiration

Here's another set that they gave to us at Convention. Mixed Medley (#128054-Wood , 128057-Clear, pg. 39, Holiday Catalog,)  It is one of the Hostess sets in the Holiday Catalog...Now to find time to play with it!!!!  I'm lovin' it because the cute little new scallop punch fits 6 of the images!!!! Gotta get the punch next!!!!

Core'dinations Card Stock

I know it just looks like 3 packs of paper...but I am so excited about this new Core'dinations card stock that Stampin' Up! just developed for us.  It is a paper that is smooth on one side and textured on the other...but the uniqueness of this is that the core is white, so when it is torn, or run thru an embossing folder and then sanded, Voila...  you get an antiqued, distressed look.  I love it, and as soon as I can play with mine, I will put a sample on here!!!!

Today was my quarterly Down-line meeting.  Karen is currently my only Colorado Springs Down-line....so our quarterly meetings are pretty informal...but we had a fun afternoon. Started with sharing....I always ask my gals to bring things they are working on or that are new.

Karen made this using the punch outs from the Clear Block Caddy.....she calls it her holder for sharp things!!!!  I love the idea!!!  Love to see repurposing.

And here are 2 cards that she created...lovin' the embossing folders!!!!!

Then we had lunch.  Made Turkey sandwiches, with potato salad, and a yummy Strawberry/Orange Frozen dessert.

Strawberry Summer Sensation

1pt. orange sorbet, softened
1c. cold milk
 1pkg.(3.4oz) Vanilla instant pudding
 1tub (8 oz.) Cool Whip
strawberries

Line a 9X5 inch loaf pan with foil.  Run the sorbet and a cup of strawberries thru the blender until  smooth and spoon into the loaf pan, Beat milk and puudding together till blended, and then gently stir in Cool whip.  Spoon into loaf pan, and freeze.  Take out of freezer 10 minutes to soften then invert onto plate, peel off foil and slice.  Enjoy and Bon Apetit

OK...this is maddening, my computer has decided it knows grammar better then me and is re punctuating everything!?!?!

To Love What We Do

Stampin' Up!'s Statement of the Heart pretty much sums up why I am a Demonstrator.

To Love what we do
And Share what we Love
As we help others enjoy Creativity
And Worthwhile Accomplishments
In this we make a difference!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what I do, I could stamp and create ALL day long!!!  And the teacher in me craves sharing that Love!!!!  Knowing that I am helping others to be Creative...is very important to me...because when I am being creative I am at my happiest.  I truely believe that everyone needs to be creative in some form, be it, art, music, writing...etc.  Knowing I can do this for people, I know that I can make a difference in this world.  Sometimes I get a little over enthusiastic about things...but that is just because, I want to share with you all!!!!

I also enjoy all the meaningful relationships Stampin' Up! has brought to me....be it my customers, my downline, the SU staff or other demonstrators.  Stampers are some of the BEST!!!!  Thank you Shelli for starting a wonder thing!!!!

Cleaning out in the garage, I found my Dad's tripod....so we set it up this afternoon to take pictures.....not too bad for first try!!!  I still want Steven to set up a sliding mount for the web cam...so that I can do You Tube Tutorials....Was gonna use the video on my Canon, then remembered we had this Web Cam that was Matt's.  So will play with that a bit and start using it!!!  Back to our set, we got this given to us at Convention, Lacy & Lovely.  This was one of the sets on my list....so that was very good!!!!  It uses lots of the circle, and scallop punches.

Here's a picture of the Pillow Gift that Paula gave me for Convention....I love it....Sweet little metal tin with glass magnets inside!!!!

And here's a great Taco Chicken recipe...

Foil Pack Taco Chicken

4 small boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (1 lb.)
4 tsp. Taco seasoning mix
1/2 lb. red potatoes, thinly sliced
3/4 c. Mexican shredded cheese mix
1/2 c. Salsa
1/4 c. sour cream

Heat oven to 400 F.  Sprinkle chicken with seasoning mix.  Place 1.2 c. potatoes on center of each of 4 large sheets of heavy duty foil.  Top with chicken, cheese, and salsa.  Bring up foil sides.  Double fold top and both ends to seal each packet, leaving room for heat circulation.  place on a baking pan.  Bake 30-35 min.  until chicken is cooked thru.  Cool 5 min.  Cut slits in foil to release steam before opening, then top with sour cream.  Enjoy and Bon Apetit!!!

2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog

The new Stampin' Up! Catalog was laying out on my desk, and I was struck by it's simple elegance this year.  Yes, it is paired down a little from past years...but really....I even found it to be a bit much at times.  New items can be found in the Supplemental Catalogs.  This catalog is clean and crisp, just the way I want my Stamping to be!!!!

The AFFECTION COLLECTION (# 127946-wood, 127949-clear, page 35 of the Holiday Catalog) set was another stamp set that Stampin' Up! gave to us at convention for our Make-n-Takes.  When I first saw this set it was Eeehhh....but now that I have used it, I can see all sorts of possibilities.  Good choice Stampin' Up!  Will get some samples on here later this week!!!

These were the projects that we made at the Coffee Filter Class last month....These are some of my favorite projects!!!!  Check out the link above for Calendar and Events, to see the Stamp-a-Stack, Explosion Book Class, and Holiday 3-D Punched Projects upcoming classes.  Lots of fun.  If you have a class idea you would like me to do, let me know!!!!

Time for a Sneak Peek of our Stamper's 10 projects for tomorrow night.  This is a great group of Stamper's....and we have an opening...would love to have you join us.  And yes, I can take long distance members...you get the finished projects delivered in your order!!!!

Here's an easy peasy recipe, for when the grandkids come over for lunch!!!!

Mountains and Forest Sandwich

1 slice of cheese
1 slice of bologna or other lunch meat
1 hot dog bun
1 TBL. Miricle Whip or Mayonaise
lettuce

Cut cheese and bologna in half, using knife or kitchen scissors, make zig-zag cut.  Spread bun inside with mayo, fill with lettuce, cheese and bologna.  Cheese and meat are the mountains, lettuce is the forest...cute!  Enjoy and Bon Apetit!!!

I Finally Feel Like I'm Back On Track....

The Stampin' Up! Convention Lip Dub video is my favorite yet.....I am having trouble getting the video on here...if you can't get this to work go here.  Oh my...Convention was soo....much fun this year.  It seemed a little subdued, but I got so much out of each class this year!!!  Love, love, loved it ALL!!!  They seem to top it each year...and next year is the 25th Anniversary, and I know it will be the best yet!!!!  Can't believe it will be my 15th one.

Along with lots of product...I got 6 new stamps sets from Stampin' Up!...as gifts!!!!  Will be putting them all together this week....Here is the last one they gave us....Moving Forward, it's the Ronald McDonald House set....you can purchase it in the catalog.... and Stampin' Up! will donate $3.00 to the Charity for each set sold.  They contribute about $100,000 each year.  Way to go Stampin' Up!  This is such a fun set.

Sorry this is a little blurry, I tried, but couldn't seem to get it to focus, I think because I was on black.  Wish I had a permanent spot set up to take pictures.  This was a project for the White Stazon projects we did at Stampers 10 a while back.  I think this will be a Christmas or Birthday present.

And time for a recipe.  These were some yummy meatballs I made a while back....

1 lb. ground turkey
1lb ground beef
2eggs, slightly beaten
3/4 c.saltine cracker crumbs

1 (14 3/4-oz.) chicken broth
1 (12 oz,) tomato paste
1/4 c. sugar

Preheat oven to 450. In a bowl., combine turkey, beef, eggs, cracker crumbs, cheese, onion, garlic, and pepper.  Shape into 1 1/2-inch meatballs.  Place on a 10 X 15 inch baking pan.  Bake for 18-20 minutes. In a large saucepan with a cover, combine remaining ingredients.  Place meatballs in sauce.  Simmer covered 20 minutes to blend flavors.  Serve over hot rice or pasta.  Yummy!!!  Enjoy, and Bon Appetit!!!

Dog Days of Summer. . .

Sorry I haven't posted much lately...it has just been so hot, it is a chore to do any little thing.....and I have so much to do to get ready for Convention.....But I'm really getting excited about that!!!!  I have all sorts of classes and events the week after Convention...so I have to have ALL of that prepped and ready to go before I leave, fortunately I'm almost there!!!!

Here's a card that we did at last month's Stamper's 10....using the White Staz-On.

And this one I believe is one we did at Donna's last month.

And one more, that we did at Jennell's...

We had an over abundance of fruit a while back....so I decided to make Ambrosia.....Yumm!!!!!

Ambrosia

2 medium oranges, peeled
1 small bannana, peeled
20 seedless grapes, halved
1/4 cup unsweetened, shredded coconut

Section orange, and cut into small pieces.  Cut banana into thin slices
Combine orange slices, banana, grape halves, and coconut.  Cover and chill....Yummm!!!  Enjoy and Bon Apetite!!!!

I probably won't post until I get back from Salt Lake City...although, if I get an evening, I will try!!!!  See you all next week!!!

Very Restful Weekend....

WE actually had a weekend with nothing....absolutely nothing going on.  Nick didn't come home....so on Saturday, I got caught up on a little of this and a little of that....Then went to Kris' for a yummy dinner and on Sunday....broke out the Ikea Kitchen planner and went to town doing the cabinets for the Laundry Room.  Steven had started doing it...but the program really frustrated him, so after spending a few hours just figuring it out, I went to town and got the whole room planned out.  Unfortunately it won't let me post the picture....  So glad that is done, now maybe we can actually get the cabinets!!!!

But this week does not look restful.  Last night, just before the sky opened up and the rain came....they parked a bunch of county trucks across Latigo from us in the Public Open Space.   This morning they brought in the big earth movers, and have been building a mountain....truck after truck of dirt....beeping , and making all sorts of noise.  The dogs are so upset..... I guess they are using this as one of the staging areas for the big project on Meridian.  While it will be nice when it is all finished....I think I will take the back, dirt road to town.  It sounds like it will be a very noisy summer.

Here's a picture of the fun Hostess gifts I gave out in June.  We did a project using White Staz-On, and this used it also on the cover of the little tins.  Fun little gift to make!!!!

And here's another card, from Karen...as I cleaned out my Stationary drawer.  Great Christmas card!!!!
And here is a sample of one of the cards that we made at Jennell's for our Stamp Day.

It has turned cool here....or at least it feels cool, compared to how hot it was....so we have moved to more casserole and stew type dinners.  Here's a Goulash I made last week....

Hungarian Goulash

2-3  Tbls. oil
2 onions, finely chopped
1 pinch caraway seeds
Salt to taste
1 3/4 lbs. beef, cut into small pieces
1 Tbls. paprika
1 red or green bell pepper, sliced
1 clove carlic, crushed
1 tomato, peeled

In a skillet, heat oil and saute the onions.  Sprinkle with caraway seeds and salt.  Add the beef and brown well.  Lower the heat and cover.  Steam for a few minutes.  Add the paprika and mix well.  Add a little water and bring to a boil.  Lower the heat again.  When the meat is 3/4 cooked.  add the bell pepper, garlic, and tomato.  Simmer at medium heat until the meat is tender.  If needed, add a little water.  Enjoy and Bon Appetit!!!!

Cooler Weather....

It has been breezy and a little cooler all day, not by much, but we will take any break we can!!!  We went to Cosco this afternoon, to check them out,  and a micro burst must have hit the house while we were gone...you should have seen the chaos when we got home, pictures off of walls, curtains down, things from the kitchen had blown into the living room....plants everywhere....what a mess, no sooner got that cleaned up and the sky opened up and a hellacious thunderstorm came thru....so now we are mopping up...couldn't get things shut down and windows closed fast enough.  Seems to really be cooling down!!!!  Steven's going out to the garden now to see what survived!!!!

Thought I'd post some cards and such!!!!  The first one is one of the Matchbox Post - it Note holders I did last month.  This is one of the larger ones...actually these will be gifts at Convention!!!!

And then I was cleaning out my letter drawer...and here are 2 cards done this past year by my dear friend Karen!!!!

Both are great cards!!!!

I've had a few of you ask me for my recipe that I used on the cookies at the Open House.  I found it on another demonstrators website, and I'm not sure who it was now.....but here goes, with a few of my own changes.

Lemon Shortbread Cookes

3/4 lb. unsalted butter, room temp.
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
zest from 1 lemon

Preheat oven to 350 F. In a bowl of a stand mixer, mix butter and sugar until they are just combined.Add vanilla.  In another bowl, whisk together the flour and salt then add them to the butter mixture.  Add the lemon zest.  Mix on low speed until the dough starts to come together.  Dump on a surface dusted with flour and shape into a flat disk.  Wrap in plastic and chill for at least 30 minutes.  Roll the dough 1/2-inch thick and cut out with your cookie cutter.  Place on an uncreased baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, until edges begin to brown.  Allow to cool to room temperature.

Glaze: In a small bowl, mix 1 cup confectioners sugar with 2-3 TBLS. lemon juice, adding more juice if necessary to get desired consistency.  If you are stamping your designs on Fondant, you only need to put a small amount on each cookie, then pur your stamped piece on top.  These are wonderful with jsut the glaze and no Fondant!!!!  Enjoy and Bon Appetit!!!!

Well, the temperatures are dropping like a stone out there....feels like FALL!!!!

Hot, Hot Weather.....

HHHMMMM.....this sure has been a hot, hot summer....everywhere.  Today it was stifling...but right about the time I started making dinner...the wind picked up ...it was crazy, and the temps dropped...to the point...it felt chilly...very strange.

Went to Sam's Club this morning...about half the things I wanted to get, they did not have....very discouraging.  Got to the check out, and she says...your membership expires tomorrow...do you want to renew....Hmmm....think we will try Cosco this year!!!!

Came home and worked on class projects....but I am moving really slow.  Picked out some supplies from the Holiday Catalog, for fall projects...I love Fall...so look for some fun things comin' up, along with a 3-D Punch class that has holiday decorations!!!! Fun, fun, fun!!!!

How about some cards!!!!  This first one is the Matchbook Post-It Note Holder that we did as our Make-n-Take at last months Stamper's 10...these make such great little gifts!!!!
And these next 2 are from when we stamped at Donna's last month....fun cards!!!
How about a recipe.....this is a Salmon Cheese Ball that I made for my Open House....have had a few people ask for the recipe....it made 2, and so I took it to dinner at my Daughter's.

Salmon Cheese Ball

1-6 oz. can skinless, boneless Salmon  (Bumble Bee makes a really good one!!!)
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup onion, chopped
2 oz. diced pimento
2 TBLS. bacon bits
1 cup parsley, finely chopped

Drain salmon in a sieve.  Beat cream cheese in a large bowl till fluffy.  Fold in cheeses and bacon bits.  Add salmon.  Mix by hand till well blended.  Cut 2 sheets of waxed paper. Divide parsley on wax paper Divide salmon mixture into 2 balls and place in the middle of the waxed paper.  Roll the ball around until coated.  Wrap ball with wax paper, and place in fridge.  Chill 4 hours.  Serve with crackers. Enjoy and Bon Appetite!!!
