Time for a new Tutorial...Bamboo Spine Book

These little photo Albums are fun and easy to make....I left this one undecorated, as I wanted to get the directions out....but if you use the Simply Scrappin' kits to make them...the decorating part is so easy!!!!
Supplies
1/2 of a Simply Scrappin Kit
12" Paper Cutter w/both cutting and scoring blade
1/8" circle punch
Sticky Strip
Assorted ribbon
Cloth covered rubber band
bamboo skewer
wire
Velcro dots
additional card stock
Start by cutting a piece of 12" x 12" patterned card stock in half to make two 12" x 6" pieces. Cut 1/2" off the short end of both pieces so your final size is 11 1/2" x 6:.

Score your 2 pieces vertically at 4 1/2", 5", 9 1/2" and 10".
Use Sticky Strip to adhere both pieces together, matching along the score lines. Fold at creases to make album cover.
Make a pencil mark at 1" from the top and bottom edge of the 1 1/2 " flap. Make a diagonal cut from the mark to the first score line.
Put 2 pieces of Velcro dots onto the inside panel of the flap, evenly spaced and close the flap to create closure.
Punch a hole 1/2" in from the top and bottom edge in the middle of the spine of the album, using the 1/8" punch. The outer cover of your album is now complete!

Cut four 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" pieces of coordinating cardstock and fold each in half along the 8 1/2 " edge...like a card.
Stack the 4 pieces together and punch a hole 1/4" from the top and bottom edge at the fold using a 1/8" punch.

Cut the sharp point off the Bamboo Skewer to make a 5 3/4" stick.

Loop a cloth covered rubber band (little girl ponytail band)over one end and use a piece of wire to thread the rubber band through the hole in the spine of the album, and then through the 4 pages.
Pull the rubber band over the top end of the bamboo skewer. Your basic album is now complete!! Tie coordinating pieces of ribbon onto the bamboo skewer. Use a mini glue dot to anchor the 2 outer end pieces of ribbon to the bamboo.
Embellish the cover and inside pages using the self adhesive die cut shapes from the Simply Scrappin' kits and any other card stock/punches you desire. Your album is now ready for photos!!!!

Post Christmas!!!

Sorry I've been slow to post....Had our last BIG Christmas dinner last nite....Maybe now I can get caught up....To start..we need to do a drawing for the candle...and since Kim was the only one to post...she gets it!!!! Congratulaitons Kim!!!!
Next, I wanted to put an updated picture with Baby Emma...Actually, it's a wonderful picture of ALL my grandaughters and Nick....Sarah, Abbey, and Emma!!!

Next I wanted to post from my Technique classes this month. We did the Salted Background Technique. You use glossy card stock, wet it down, add splash of color with re-inkers...then cover with salt. When dry(can be helped along with heat gun!!) rub the salt off and stamp with Staz-on.
And then I thought I would put a Sneek Peek of our Spring Boxing Class....Here is the January Snowman Box.... This class will meet Sunday, January 24, at 12:30, my house...cost is $25, and we will be doing 6 boxes this time...must have registration by January 17. I will also be putting the kits up on my Etsy Shop. http://www.etsy.com/shop/ladystamp

Catch Up Day....

Today is the day to catch up on all of the little things that need to be done for Christmas.....got most of the gifts wrapped...have 3 more....but they don't need to be done till Sunday!!! Started the pies, and cookies....Steven is moving one of the pantry shelves out of the dining room back into the laundry/pantry...even though the cabnets are not in...it will be out of my dining room...WooHoo!!! Catching up on things on here too!!!
Here are some additional projects from the Slit Punch Border that we did at Stamper's 10 this past month. I love this technique!!!
If you like it too...book a workshop and we can do it as one of the projects!!!!

Then ... here is the tag that I did for the tag exchange. He came out really cute, and we will be using him as part of the January Boxing Class....That class will be held on Sunday, January 24, at 12:30. Cost is $25, and we will be doing 6 boxes this time!!!

Lastly...it's time for a tip!!! I did this cute little ornament for my grandaughters 1st Christmas...I wanted to add some bling to the red rhinestone brad...but the Jumbo eyelets only come in Antique Brass....Use the SU sanding block to polish it up and it will look all shiney and gold!!!!

Christmas is Comin'

Went out to finish up some last minute errands...and boy...it's cold out there...It might be a white Christmas after all!!!
Here are the 2 projects that we did at Stamper's 10, 2 weeks ago...I'm a bit slow to post!!!!

The first one uses a technique to make a border with the Slit punch. I also love the tree, using the photo corner punch!!!! The other card is an exampel of a stained glass technique, and we tried our hand with Rub-Ons on Ribbon!!!!
Here are the last 2 Tag swaps from the Christmas Party...

A Birth certificate proves you were born

A death certificate proves you died

But a scrapbook proves you LIVED!

Cased this saying from someone elses Blog. Thought it was a good time to do another contest...since we are over 3333 entries!!! I was cleaning out my Stampin' Studio...and came across a cute little candle I did for gifts a few years back....Will draw for it ...all you need to do is leave a comment on my blog that is stamping or scrappin' related...like the saying above!!! Will draw the day after Christmas!!!

Stampin' Christmas Party!!!

Yesterday was our Stampin' Friends Christmas Party, that Melinda graciously hosted....Everything was wonderful. Stephanie and Karen...wish you could have been there...we missed you, Sandy and Donna too!!! First we had yummy snacks that we all brought, finished off with extra cookies from the Cookie Exchange. Yummmm!!!! I gained 5 pounds!!!! Then we exchanged our tags swap. I will post a few a day....here are the first 2!!!

That was fun to see what everyone came up with...they are all wonderful!!! Next we did our gift exchange. It was supposed to be a Chinese swap...where you can steal gifts from each other...but they were all such great gifts, everyone loved what they ended up getting.....Here is mine!!! So no stealing!!!!

Yummy Mulled Cider candles from Dee....they make the house smell sooooo!!!!! good...Thanks Dee!!! Finally, a picture of the group...which I don't think we have ever done.
Abbey is in there...I promis....she doesn't like her picture taken....but we know she is there!!! Hugs!!!!

Busy day!!!

Wwwhhheeewww!!! cooking marathon today....Tomorrow, one of my stamping groups is doing a cookie exchange....so got up and started on cookies...then Steven found them...so had to make an extra batch, cause he fell in love with them!!!! Got those done, then started on 2 casseroles , one to take over to Alli and Aaron, and one for us. Figured...I'd make lots of Crock pot dishes and casseroles...and just double the recipes, over the next few weeks...and then they will have dinners, and one less thing she has to worry about!!! Then made lunch, and finished up the casseroles...and wrapped Aarons birthday present....and we ran those over to them. Got home and put together the bean dip I'm taking tomorrow....and made sure I had everything else I need to bring. So now I am finally getting down to my office. Need to finalize Thursday and Friday's stamp club oprders...then maybe I can stamp!!!!
Here's a Christmas card I did for the regional I ended up canceling....ENJOY!

Time for another Contest!!!

Anyone hostessing a regular workshop this month, gets one of these cute little boxes filled with flower die-cuts. I think I was in the mood for some sunshine...what with all of this very cold weather!!!! I used the Big Shot, Scallop Bag die, with the scallop cut off, assorted flower dies for the flower, and the acrylic button to the build a brad, for the center of the flower....it really is cute!!! Oh...and the ribbon is out of the Holiday Mini....it really is nice!!!!

And to celebrate going over 3000 hits on my blog, if you leave me a comment (click on comments at end of posts), between now and next Monday, December 14...., I will draw for one of these cute little boxes!!!

Time for another Tutorial....

I made this all up, thinking I had a second frame to do the tutorial pictures....only to find I only had one frame....but it is easy enough to make with the picture and directions.....It came out pretty good. Can ya tell what my family is getting for Chrismas presents this year!!! SHHH!!!! Don't tell!!!!

1- Start off with a plain, simple frame...mine was wood, already white-washed from JoAnnes.... you could use a sturdy chipboard one also. Mine was about 8 1/2" x 6 1/4", with an opening of 3 3/4" x 5 3/4".

2- I used the papers in Christmas Cocoa Specialty paper, out of the Holiday Mini.(you can customize with any designer paper) I love the Red Flocked....cut a little bigger then your area to cover, and glue down with the Tombow Multi Purpose Glue. When it has dried, I trimmed close to the frame with my Hobby Blade, and then sanded all edges with a sanding block. (Inside edges also!!!)

3- Attach 5/8" grosgrain to match your paper at the seam of the 2 papers. I used Sticky Strip to attach.

4- I cut out a snowflake from the designer paper and backed the square Clear Button, tied it up with some Hemp Twine I colored with red reinker. Attache with a Glue Dot.

5- Cut a piece of Old Olive card stock to fit inside of frame, Then cut a piece of Whisper White about 1/2" smaller all around.

6- I stamped the tree from Snow Swirled in Old Olive, and then sponged Old Olive onto it with a Sponge Dauber. Punch a hole in top with the 1/16" punch and put in a red, Square Fire Rhinestone Brad.

7- Stamp the saying below in Basic Black ink.

8- Attach to Old Olive with Dimensionals and put into frame....You are Done!!!!

Simple enough...hope you enjoy!!!

I had scheduled to do a downline training event today...but the timing was bad...and I will reschedule in the Spring. Karen was able to come by...and we haven't seen each other in ages. Karen is one of my downline, and we used to work together at October Afternoon.... so we had lots to catch up on....so we went out to lunch, and then we came back to the studio and stamped. She was working on Christmas Cards...and I worked on this and the Tip I will post tomorrow!!! So Karen, if you read this..."HI"

Friday, December 4, 2009

Brr!!!!

OK...who ordered this frigid weather....brrrr....is it CCOOLLDD!!!!! It's supposed to get up to a balmy 30 degrees today!!!!

Here's another quick little Christmas package...for treats or small gifts!!!! Enjoy!!!!

Caught Up Day!!!!

All week...I have been busy, busy, busy....but didn't seem to be getting anything done...today was great....got all sorts of things done!!!!

Here's one more Christmas Present...have one more of these to finish....my great $3.00, Wally World frame!!!!

The car saga continues....Steven went out this morning and his truck wouldn't turn over....he's been babying it along for about a month now...and this bitter cold finally did it in...along with leaving the door not shut all the way and interior lights on for about 4 hours yesterday!!! I didn't have to go anywhere....so he took my car....and brought a battery home at lunch...went to put it in, and the battery terminals completely crumbled when he went to take them off...so at dinner he brought new terminals...and WooHoo..it started!!!! OK...Car mishap #3...that's it for me!!!
